inferior medial genicular artery (anatomy)
Last reviewed 01/2018
The inferior medial genicular artery is a branch of the popliteal artery. From the inferior part of the popliteal fossa it courses inferomedially deep to the medial head of gastrocnemius. It circles around the border of the tibial condyle deep to semitendinosus, gracilis, sartorius and the tibial collateral ligament.
It anastomoses with several other vessels around the knee to supply the knee joint and proximal part of the tibia.
