Isoflurane is an inhalational anaesthetic agent with a spectrum of activity mid-way between its isomer, enflurane, and halothane. Hence, its use for induction and maintenance may result in:
- myocardial depression } tachycardia is
- vasodilatation, resulting in a } the response decreased systemic venous return }
- irritation of airways - possible coughing and laryngospasm at induction
- potentiation of neuromuscular relaxation
