cautions and contraindications

Cautions:
- increase dose interval in renal impairment. In severe impairment the dose itself should also be reduced
- check drug interactions - see current issue BNF
Contra-indications:
- pregnancy - possible toxicity to eighth-nerve development of the fetus
- myasthenia Gravis - aminoglycosides may impair neuromuscular transmission and indeed large doses given during surgery may be responsible for a transient myasthenic syndrome
