Certain occupations are more prone to suffer from particular types of burn:

  • firefighters: mainly flame and inhalational burns
  • plating industry: acid burns
  • fertilizer production: acid and alkali burns
  • soap manufacture: alkali burns
  • dye industry: phenol burns
  • explosives: phenol
  • petroleum industry: complex hydrocarbon chemical burns
  • roadworks: bitumen thermal
  • air conditioner cleaning: phenol
