- there may be polycythaemia, which should prompt a check of iron levels
- metabolic acidosis may occur
- chest radiology
- ECG shows right axis deviation and right atrial and ventricular hypertrophy.
- other investigations of use in diagnosis and in the planning of surgery include:-
- echocardiography, which will demonstrate the right ventricular outflow obstruction, the VSD, etc
- cardiac catheterisation
- selective left and right ventriculography
- aortography and coronary arteriography
