Association Between Consumption of Ultraprocessed Foods and Cognitive Decline

Brazilian study (n=10,775) found after median follow-up of 8 years, individuals with ultra-processed food consumption above the first quartile showed a 28% faster rate of global cognitive decline (p=0.003) & 25% faster rate of executive function decline (p=0.01) vs first quartile

  • findings suggest that limiting consumption of ultraprocessed food could be associated with reduced cognitive decline in middle-aged and older adults
