risk factors for acute Achilles rupture

Several risk factors have been identified as contributing factors for acute rupture:
- local corticosteroids
- vascular degeneration/irregularities
- systemic corticosteroids
- hyperthermia of tendon
- peritendinous injections
- training errors
- Fluoroquinolones
- malalignment of foot and/or ankle
- degenerative changes in tendon
- chronic Tendinopathy (with Haglund’s Deformity) (1)
