Lobar bronchi are major airways within the respiratory tree that start by division of the principal bronchi on both sides and end at the point of their own subdivision into tertiary or segmental bronchi. Usually, the region that each supplies is divided into a distinct lobe of the lung by the presence of a fissure.
There are three lobar bronchi to the right lung:
- superior lobe bronchus
- middle lobe bronchus
- inferior lobe bronchus
The superior lobe bronchus divides from the right principal bronchus before the right lung hilum. The lobar bronchi do not form before the hilum of the left lung.
There are two lobar bronchi to the left lung:
- superior lobe bronchus
- inferior lobe bronchus

lobar bronchus (right middle lobe)
