thrombolytic therapy in myocardial infarction
Last reviewed 01/2018
Thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction is beneficial up to 12 hr post-onset of symptoms. Optimum increases in survival are seen when therapy is started within 70 min of the onset of symptoms.
Rapid diagnosis and initiation of therapy combined with attention to the contra-indications for thrombolysis are important for the successful management of myocardial infarction.
