These include specific central nervous system infections such as meningitis and encephalitis, and also, in younger children, pyrexial illness which can result in febrile convulsions.
Also in children chronic infections such as the TORCH infections and subacute sclerosing panencephalitis may cause seizures.
In addition the following may be considered:
- abscess or tuberculoma
- cysticercosis, hydatid cysts
