Management often requires a team comprising of an orthopaedic surgeon, a paediatric surgeon and a physiotherapist.
Orthopaedic intervention is often required for problems of unbalanced lower limb function. Tendon transplants from normal muscle may be used to correct an abnormal muscle. Supportive calipers may compensate for club feet.
Paediatric intervention is needed for UTI's, urinary obstruction and ureteric reflux and incontinence. Urinary incontinence in girls may require a ileal loop diversion. A shunt may be required to treat the hydrocephalus.
Physiotherapy is needed to encourage proper limb usage.
