  • fractures of the nasal bones are common. They may be sustained from the front, with depression of the nasal bones, or from the side, resulting in deviation.
  • they may be:
    • simple - skin and mucosa intact
    • compound - cartilage and/or bone exposed
  • in a child, always consider the possibility of non-accidental injury.
    • physical abuse should be considered in children and women (1)
