treatment and prevention of giardiasis

If giardia is confirmed or suspected – tinidazole 2g single dose is the treatment of choice in an adult (1).
Prevent - sanitary disposal of faeces, filtration or boiling of water. Cysts resist usual levels of water chlorination.
