A spermatocoele is a cyst that contains spermatozoa. They occur in the head of the epididymis or less commonly, in the spermatic cord.
Clinically, they resemble epididymal cysts but contain milky, rather than clear, fluid. Most are asymptomatic.
Surgical excision may be required if the patient is troubled by the lesion.
Operation may cause obstruction to the passage of sperm, and so, may be contraindicated if the patient wishes to remain fertile and has an abnormality on the other side.
