retractile testis

A retractile testis is one that is pulled up into the neck of the scrotum by an excessively active cremasteric reflex. It appears to be incompletely descended but may be noted in its correct position after a warm bath, or after squatting.
The scrotum is normal and with gentle manipulation, the testis can be persuaded to reach the bottom of the scrotum, although temporarily.
No treatment is required, the testis becomes less retractile with age. Full descent may not occur until after puberty.
In some cases, the testis can only be manipulated into the upper part of the scrotum. It is a "high retractile" testis. Probably, it is truly incompletely descended and requires orchidopexy.
