Treatment is supportive; it includes management of the cardiac failure with digoxin, diuretics and oxygen.
20% of cases fail to make a full recovery. Some progress to endocardial fibroelastosis, and others die.
In particular Coxsackie B myocarditis in neonates has an 80% mortality.
