prognosis
Last reviewed 01/2018
As with any soft tissue tumour, the location and stage of a histiocytoma are the most significant prognostic factors.
Tumours near the surface are detected earlier and are more easily resected.
In malignant tumours, metastases are found at diagnosis in:
- 50% of storiform-pleomorphic tumours
- 25% of myxoid tumours
The overall 5 year survival of malignant tumours is approximately 50%.
