In this form of pulmonary fibrosis the fibrogenic dusts involved are inhaled and transported by macrophages to nearby lymphoid tissue where the process of fibrosis commences. The three most important diseases in this category are asbestosis, coal worker's pneumoconiosis and silicosis.
