A pneumothorax may be spontaneous, or it may be caused by:
- trauma
- iatrogenic causes:
- insertion of CVP line
- artificial ventilation
- artificial pneumothorax
- thoracocentesis
- thoracic or cervical surgery
- "spontaneous"
