- plain radiographs will not assist in the diagnosis of piriformis syndrome
(PS)
- Electromyograms (EMGs) may reveal abnormalities in the tibial and peroneal
divisions of the sciatic nerve
- CT and MRI can help differentiate PS from other possible causes of sciatica and can be used to directly determine the diagnosis of PS by revealing an enlarged piriformis muscle
