acromion (examination)

The acromion of the scapula is best palpated bilaterally from behind the patient. Palpate laterally along the smooth concavity of the outer third of the clavicle. It is felt as a bony quadrilateral mass at the 'tip' of the shoulder. Principally, its anterior and dorsal surfaces are felt.
