greater tuberosity of humerus (examination)

The greater tuberosities of the humerus are palpated from behind bilaterally. First, the acromion is felt at the lateral end of the clavicle. Pressing firmly over the step at the lateral edge of the acromion, progress inferiorly 2-3 cm to the greater tuberosity. It may be difficult to feel beneath the mass of the deltoids.
