The dose-limiting toxic effects vary with respect to different alkaloid, for example
- myelosuppression with vinblastine
- neurotoxicity with vincristine - sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy
Other side effects include:
- paralytic ileus
- alopecia
- joint pain
- inappropriate ADH secretion
The toxicity of these compounds may be potentiated in patients with obstructive jaundice.
