Haemofiltration is a form of haemodialysis that uses the convective movement of large volumes of fluid to remove plasma fluid and solutes. It is commonly used for acute renal failure in the intensive care setting where it is indicated in circumstances of:
- fluid overload
- worsening biochemistry
- acidosis
