congenital gonadotrophin deficiency
Last reviewed 01/2018
This is thought to be due to defective production or secretion of gonadotrophin releasing hormone in the hypothalamus.
The gonadotrophins are affected alone or in combination with GH or other pituitary hormones.
One form of hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism may resolve spontaneously or after a 12 month course of hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophic hormone).
The association of gonadotrophin deficiency with anosmia is termed Kallman's syndrome.
