third of cases of primary maternal infection
- the transmission rate increases with gestational age - studies have revealed
a transmission rate of 40% at 26 weeks' gestation and 72% at 36 weeks' gestation
- the evidence relating to the use of drug therapy during pregnancy reveals
no quality evidence that such interventions are beneficial
- there is no justification for GPs in the UK to perform toxoplasmosis screening
