  • senile retinoschisis:
    • the inner wall is immobile
    • frequently bilateral
  • choroidal detachment:
    • pigment epithelium still visible
    • not limited by the ora serrata
  • other causes of photopsia:
    • postural hypotension
    • migraine
    • choroidal tumours
    • optic nerve pathology
    • transient ischaemic attacks
  • other causes of floaters:
    • posterior vitreous detachment
    • vitreous haemorrhage (diabetic retinopathy, trauma)
    • uveitis
    • age related macular degeneration (1)
