complications

The complications of bronchiectasis include:
- life-threatening haemoptysis
- if haemoptysis 10mL or less over a 24 hour period, treat with an appropriate oral antibiotics; if clinical deterioration, arrange emergency admission to hospital (1)
- acute infective exacerbations
- pulmonary hypertension
- lung abscess
- brain abscess
- amyloidosis
- pleural effusion.
