Last reviewed 01/2018

The cervical branches of the vagus nerve are those which originate within the cervical section of the nerve e.g.:

  • auricular branches
  • meningeal branches
  • pharyngeal nerves
  • superior laryngeal nerves
  • superior cardiac nerves

The recurrent laryngeal nerves originate within the thorax but mainly terminate in the neck.
