The management of dysuria will vary depending on the type of population presenting with this symptom.
In an otherwise healthy female adult presenting in general practice, particularly if the urine is turbid it is likely that the patient has an isolated urinary tract infection.
In a genitourinary clinic, with a higher probability of sexually transmitted disease, isolation of the precipitating cause is important.
