Unlike obstructive anuria, there is usually no period of tolerance.

The many symptoms and sign of uraemia appear soon after the onset of anuria, neurological features are especially marked. The typical progression of non-obstructive anuria is:

  • headaches
  • giddiness
  • convulsions
  • delirium
  • dyspnoea
  • vomiting
  • pupillary constriction
  • coma and death
