Leukopheresis is the collection of leucocytes by a continuous flow cell separator.
Indications include:
- emergency treatment of extreme hyperleukocytosis - priapism, respiratory distress, blurred vision, altered mental status
- management of chronic myeloid leukaemia in pregnancy when chemotherapy is contraindicated
- cryopreservation of stem cells
