There are a range of prognostic factors for SAH:
- grade,
according to the scheme of Hull and Hess:
- I - headache and mild meningism } 95% cure, 1% mort.
- II - severe headache and meningism
- III - confused or focal signs
- IV - drowsy } 35% mortality, 35% morbidity
- V - comatose } 35% mortality, 35% morbidity
- age - the younger the patient, the better the prognosis
- hypertension - increasing morbidity with increasing blood pressure - ischaemic deficiency
- amount of blood seen on CT - the less blood there is, the less vasospasm occurs
