The differential diagnosis of epilepsy includes:

  • syncope
  • cardiac arrhythmias
  • hypoglycaemic attacks
  • psychogenic - hysterical attacks
  • narcolepsy / cataplexy syndrome
  • breath holding attacks
  • daydreaming
  • night terrors
  • Munchausen by proxy

In addition, other causes of seizures should be considered.
