Investigations in tertiary hyperparathyroidism show:
- raised Ca in the serum
- albumin is normal or low
- PO4:
- decreased or normal in chronic renal failure
- decreased in malabsorption
- serum alkaline phosphatase is raised (1)
- plasma PTH raised
