checklist before handing-over to the admitting team

Once the patient is stable, his ultimate destination and further management or definitive care should be decided upon.
However, before the patient leaves the resuscitation room the following should be checked:
- the airway must be secure
- ventilation / blood gases are adequate
- venous access is secure
- blood has been cross-matched
- chest, cervical spine and pelvic radiographs are on file
- tetanus prophylaxis and antibiotics have been administered, if indicated
- any fracture has been immobilised
- records have been written
