Typical infections at stage 3 of HIV infection include:

  • tuberculosis

  • respiratory tract infections, often caused by:
    • Streptococcus pneumoniae
    • Haemophilus influenzae

  • candidiasis:
    • oropharyngeal
    • vaginal

  • gastrointestinal infections:
    • Shigella
    • Salmonella
