acute local infections

The cervical lymph nodes often become swollen & painful in:
- URTI's, especially pharyngitis and tonsillitis
- glandular fever
- acute exanthems such as chicken pox and rubella
- otitis externa
- skin infections and infected chronic skin conditions
- scalp lesions such as insect bites or picked spots
