A two-piece system consists of a skin-protective base plate that adheres to the skin, and a pouch that is clipped or inserted into the flange. The inner ring of the flange can be cut to fit the stoma.
The key advantage of the two-piece system is that the base plate can remain in position for 3-5 days. This reduces the likelihood of skin irritation and allows greater flexibility in the changing of pouches.
