Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin condition, occurring in skin areas rich in sebaceous glands such as the scalp, face, chest, and intertriginous areas. It is characterized by scaling and poorly defined erythematous patches (1).
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is confusing because:
- it has nothing to do with seborrhoea
- there are several varieties which may overlap
- the condition may overlap with psoriasis
- it may be associated with rosacea
- it is different in adults than children
