proton pump inhibitors Vs H2 antagonists in oesophagitis
Last reviewed 01/2018
- a systematic review of 43 randomised controlled trials comparing PPIs and
H2 antagonists in 7635 patients with erosive oesophagitis, concluded that
proton pump inhibitors are more effective than H2 antagonists in the treatment
of erosive oesophagitis
- there is also evidence that PPIs are more effective than H2 antagonists in relieving symptoms in patients with non-erosive oesophagitis
