Side effects of androgens include:
- liver damage
- diminished gonadotrophin release with eventual infertility
- salt and water retention
- growth disturbances if exposure is pre-pubertal:
- more rapid growth
- smaller eventual stature due to epiphyseal fusion
- masculinization in females
