These include:
- epilepsy
- pregnancy
- hepatic or renal disease - clearance of the drug is reduced
Cross-tolerance with benzodiazepines. Should not be given with MAOIs. Safe and well tolerated in over 65 year olds but should not be used above 30mg per day for more than 4 weeks.
