- immunoelectrophoresis (for myeloma), Bence Jones protein
- haematology: FBC, Hb, haematocrit, platelet count
- others: ESR, CRP, ANF, C3 (connective tissue disease)
- if the putative diagnosis is connective tissue disease then renal angiography may be indicated.
