seborrhoeic keratosis with squamous atypia

Some seborrhoeic keratoses show squamous atypia similar to in situ or invasive squamous cell carcinoma. It is not known whether these constitute a separate subtype of benign lesion or whether they are an early stage in the natural history of squamous cell carcinoma.
Excision biopsy is the recommended treatment.
