Prolonged inflammation may result in:
- glaucoma - either due to impediment of aqueous outflow at the anterior chamber angle from peripheral anterior synechiae or due to impedement of aqueous outflow from the posterior to the anterior chamber
- cataract - from interference with lens metabolism
- retinal detachment - due to traction on the retina by vitreous strands
- macular oedema and degeneration (1)
