arrhythmias according to site of the defect
Last reviewed 01/2018
Cardiac arrhythmias may be due to:
- a defect in the atria or the atrioventricular conduction system, in which case they are termed supraventricular arrhythmias
- a defect in the ventricles, in which case they are termed ventricular arrhythmias
- pre-excitation and re-entrant arrhythmias where the abnormality is an extra conduction pathway between the atria and the ventricles
