The regime for prescribing sumatriptan tablets is:
- initially 100 mg orally (50 mg effective in some patients)
- if no response a second dose SHOULD NOT be taken for the same attack
- Maximum dose 300 mg in 24 hours
Effectiveness:
- 51-65% get relief within 2 hours
