Secondary short stature may be caused by chronic disease or hormonal conditions. These include:
Chronic disease may include:
- undernutrition
- chronic bowel disease
- chronic renal disease
- cardiac disease, in particular cyanotic disease
- deprivational psychological dwarfism, as a result of abuse
Endocrine disease may include:
- growth hormone deficiency
- hypothyroidism
- gonadal dysgenesis
- pseudohypoparathyroidism
- premature epiphyseal fusion
cyanotic congenital cardiac disease
chronic renal failure in childhood
