The posterior basal segmental bronchus of the right inferior lobe bronchus ramifies to form the bronchial tree of the posterior basal bronchopulmonary segment of the inferior lobe. This segment is supplied uniquely by the posterior basal segmental bronchus; it forms a discrete functional unit.
